The Production House

Founded in 2007, Plateau Filmes specializes in the development of audiovisual projects and TV and film productions.

The production house’s most recent film, While It Lasts, premiered in 2015 at the 39th Festival des Films du Monde, Montreal, Canada. The film was sponsored by the Brazilian Audiovisual Sector Fund (Fundo Setorial do Audiovisual – FSA) and the Federal District Fund for the Arts and Culture (Fundo de Apoio à Cultura do DF – FAC) and licensed for TV broadcast on Canal Brasil and Telecine.

The company co-produced and distributed the feature films Simples Mortais (Mere Mortals, 2011), a production sponsored by PETROBRAS and screened on Canal Brasil. The film received the popular jury award for Best Drama at the 16th Ibero-American Film and Video Festival (2009). The film also earned awards for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor at the 12th Audiovisual Festival of Recife (2008).

Plateau Films co-produced, in association with Asacine, the drama shorts O Pefumado (The Scent, 2002) and O Jardineiro do Tempo (The Time Gardener, 2001) and the acclaimed documentary Por Longos Dias (For Long Days, 1998). The documentary earned awards at several festivals in Brazil and was selected to more than 20 international festivals (Clermont-Ferrand, Trieste, Siena, Munich, and Berlin) and broadcast on TV in Brazil, Portugal, and Australia.

Currently, the production company is raising funds for Logo agora que a gente ia ser Feliz (Just When We Were About To Be Happy), a drama about domestic violence and women’s rights, Deitado de Sapatos (Alive on a Death Bed), a meditation on life and death, in addition to a TV documentary series on Brazil’s emerging middle class, as well as Gameplay Experience, which explores the phenomenon of YouTube gamers and their influence on millions of young people around the world.

Director Mauro Giuntini

Mauro Giuntini is a Brazilian filmmaker and university professor. He produced and directed the feature film Até que a Casa Caia (While It Lasts, 2015), which premiered at the 39th Festival des Films du Monde, Montreal, Canada. In Brazil, the film debuted at the 48th Festival of Brazilian Cinema, Brasilia, and was released commercially in theaters in December 2015. The film was licensed for TV broadcast on Canal Brasil and Telecine.

Giuntini’s feature-film debut came in 2007 with Simples Mortais (Mere Mortals), a production sponsored by PETROBRAS. The film earned the popular jury’s Best Drama Award at the 16th Ibero-American Film and Video Festival, Rio de Janeiro. It also picked up the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor awards at the 12th Cine-PE Audiovisual Festival of Recife.

Giuntini is a partner and producer at Plateau Filmes, where he is currently raising funds for the feature-length productions Deitado de Sapatos (Alive on a Deathbed) and Logo Agora que a Gente ia Ser Feliz (Just When We Were About To Be Happy) and the documentary series Mostra sua Cara (Show Yourselves) and Gameplay Experience. Additionally, he is developing the fictional TV series O Esquecido (The Forgotten One).

Mauro Giunitini took his Ph.D. in Communications at the University of Brasilia (UnB), Brazil. His doctoral dissertation examined the cinematographic narrative of Alejandro G. Iñárritu. He also has a Master’s degree in Film and Video (MFA) from the School of The Art Institute of Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts degree Media Studies from UnB.

In 2009, Lu Teixeira wrote her first screenplay for the feature film Até que a Casa Caia (While It Lasts), which she produced and executive produced as well. In 2015, the production was released in movie theaters and licensed for TV broadcast on Canal Brasil and Telecine.

Lu Teixeira also developed the screenplay for the dramas Logo Agora que a gente ia ser Feliz (Just When We Were About To Be Happy) and Deitado de Sapatos (Alive on a Deathbed), based on her short story of the same title.

She also wrote the made-for-TV documentary series Mostra Sua Cara (Show Yourselves) and Gameplay Experience.

Luciana Teixeira earned a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from the University of Brasilia (UnB), Brazil, a Master's Degree in Economics from Johns Hopkins University, and a Ph.D. in Economics from UnB.
